There is so much we can learn from the art of the past if we take the time to engage with it. My secret hope when undertaking the curating of this exhibit was to encourage just that. When I read that both you and Susie Goodman are still contemplating what you have learned and are thinking about future work that somehow uses these ideas, it makes me happy. I firmly believe that if we want our work to be shown in museums, the first step is to visit them regularly — all the galleries, but especially the textile collections.

I enjoyed my journey accepting the challenge in the call for entry and revisiting Marie Webster’s story and her quilts. I still have a couple of ideas rolling around in my head that I may have to bring forth.
